Soccer Game Preview: North Mac vs. Gillespie

The North Mac Panthers will head out to square off against the Gillespie Miners at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, North Mac put up the most goals they have all season on Friday. They never let Lutheran get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The matchup was close at halftime, but North Mac turned on the heat in the second half with four goals.

They hit Lutheran with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Trinity Swick (2), Madi White, Carla Nogueroles, and Isabella Travous.

Meanwhile, Gillespie made easy work of Metro-East Lutheran on Saturday and carried off a 10-1 win. That looming 10-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Gillespie yet this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Gillespie and bumps their season record up to 4-7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those two games. As for North Mac, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-13-1 record.

North Mac suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Gillespie when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
