It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Woodland had no problem doing just that on Monday. Everything went their way against the Lindhurst Blazers as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolves who have now won five matchups in a row.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Woodland took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-10, 25-6.
Woodland found their leader in sophomore Kate Fricke, who had 13 digs and three aces. Fricke is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last three games she's played.
Fricke wasn't the only good server: Woodland was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.
Woodland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Lindhurst, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season.
Woodland will head out to challenge Ripon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ripon is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Woodland a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Lindhurst does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
