Baseball Recap: Egg Harbor Township Takes a Loss

Egg Harbor Township lost against St. Augustine Prep back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Eagles fell 4-1 to the Hermits. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Egg Harbor Township got a good showing from Chip Clooney, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clooney also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Eagles are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jacob Cagna made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. Dylan Salsbery was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Egg Harbor Township's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for St. Augustine Prep, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2.

While Egg Harbor Township had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
