Baseball Game Preview: Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves vs. Wickliffe Blue Devils

The Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves will square off against the Wickliffe Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cuyahoga Heights will be strutting in after a victory while Wickliffe will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Cuyahoga Heights got the win against Trinity by a conclusive 15-2. Considering the Red Wolves have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Wickliffe has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.79 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They came up short against Villa Angela-St. Joseph, falling 16-5. The Blue Devils' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Wickliffe saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Bucar, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Nunzio Zivnoska was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Cuyahoga Heights has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wickliffe, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
