Basketball Recap: Kennedy Extends Winning Streak to Three

It was a proper cat-fight when Kennedy took on McClatchy on Monday. The Kennedy Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-63 win over the McClatchy Lions. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars who have now won three matchups in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Lawrence, who posted 18 points. Lawrence's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Hayes II, who had 16 points.

Despite the defeat, McClatchy had strong showings from Kai Bradford, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Nehemiah Miller, who put up 17 points and four steals. Miller has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Eugene Castillo was another key player, putting up nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Kennedy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for McClatchy, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4.

Kennedy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-53 victory against Cordova on the 8th. As for McClatchy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-70 defeat against Antelope on the 8th.
