Baseball Recap: Foley Gets the Win

Foley proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Daphne Trojans 5-4. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered an 11-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Austin Heiden was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Foley: the team is 10-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

Foley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Daphne, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Foley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
