Basketball Preview: J.P. Stevens Hawks vs. Metuchen Bulldogs
The J.P. Stevens Hawks and the Metuchen Bulldogs will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. J.P. Stevens, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Metuchen's (thus far) undefeated season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when J.P. Stevens took on Middlesex on Monday. J.P. Stevens lost to Middlesex on the road by a 71-57 margin. One positive for the Hawks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Metuchen posted their biggest win since January 26th on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 69-43 margin over Governor Livingston. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 56-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Highlanders cut but never quite recovered from.
J.P. Stevens' defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Metuchen, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
J.P. Stevens strolled past Metuchen in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 54-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for J.P. Stevens since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
