Baseball Game Preview: Spring Grove Rockets vs. Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils

The Spring Grove Rockets will challenge the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Spring Grove 3.5, Greencastle-Antrim 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Spring Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against William Penn on Wednesday as Spring Grove made off with an 11-1 win. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Tanner Hoffman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan McMaster, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Spring Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Greencastle-Antrim scored first but ultimately less than Bermudian Springs in their game on Friday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Greencastle-Antrim also got a good showing from Ben Horst, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Horst has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Greencastle-Antrim's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Spring Grove, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
