Baseball Game Preview: California Lutheran C-Hawks vs. Sherman Indian Braves

For the first time this season, California Lutheran will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Sherman Indian Braves at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. California Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, California Lutheran made easy work of Bethel Christian and carried off an 11-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the C-Hawks.

Mathias Galanos and Ethan Ash made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Galanos tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ash pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Galanos also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because California Lutheran is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. At the plate, Galanos scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Ash scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Galanos also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Christian Sutton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Eli Hansen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sherman Indian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Bethel Christian, falling 17-6.

Sherman Indian's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for California Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything went California Lutheran's way against Sherman Indian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as California Lutheran made off with an 11-1 victory. Will California Lutheran repeat their success, or does Sherman Indian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
