Football Game Preview: East Canton Hornets vs. Mogadore Wildcats

The East Canton Hornets will square off against the Mogadore Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

East Canton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Harding with a sharp 46-26 win. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

East Canton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dillon Anderson out in front who rushed for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 32 yards and one TD. Another signal caller making a difference was Owen McCroskey, who threw for 184 yards and one touchdown while completing 73.7% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Canton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 214 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to East Canton's defense and their four sacks. Maverick Campbell was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. The game marked his first with multiple sacks this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mogadore). They claimed a resounding 54-7 win over East Palestine. The Wildcats pushed the score to 54-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Mogadore's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for East Canton, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
