Softball Recap: Herrin's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Herrin posted their closest victory since May 19, 2025 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 win over the Elverado Falcons. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Herrin let Harley Summers and Madison Monchino run wild. Summers went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Monchino went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Summers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Coffey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Herrin's win bumped their record up to 2-13. As for Elverado, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coincidentally, Herrin and Elverado will both be playing Zeigler-Royalton the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Tornadoes at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Falcons will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
