Preview: Marquez Gladiators vs. Torres Toros
The Marquez Gladiators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Torres Toros at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Marquez's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
Even though Sotomayor scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, Marquez still came out on top. Marquez secured a 63-59 W over the Wolves.
Meanwhile, Torres scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They managed a 48-43 victory over Elizabeth. The win made it back-to-back wins for Torres.
Torres relied on the efforts of Allen Hernandez, who scored 13 points, and Oscar Gonzalez, who scored 15 points. Hernandez is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Anthony Fierro was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Marquez is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. As for Torres, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
Everything came up roses for Marquez against the Toros in their previous matchup last Monday as the squad secured a 82-28 victory. With Marquez ahead 51-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
