Softball Recap: Cyprus' Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Cyprus's win against Hunter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Cyprus' pitcher stepped up to hand Hunter a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on three straight.

The result came thanks to Breelyn ( Bree ) Garcia's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cyprus' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adelaide ( Addie ) Winn, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 8-5. As for Hunter, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Cyprus will head out to face off against Kearns at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Cyprus' pitchers better be ready for this one: Kearns has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Hunter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Jordan at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
