Basketball Recap: Pawnee City Takes a Loss

Pawnee City was the 45-26 winner over Southern when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the Pawnee City Indians and the Southern Raiders didn't end well, with the Pawnee City Indians falling 46-28. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Pawnee City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adelyn Sisco dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. Those 15 points gave Sisco a new career-high. Kinsley Benson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Pawnee City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Pawnee City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Southern, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.

Looking ahead, Pawnee City will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Axtell at 6:00 p.m. As for Southern, they will venture away from home to square off against Lewiston on Tuesday. Southern is facing Lewiston at the right time seeing as Lewiston is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
