Softball Game Preview: Eustace Bulldogs vs. Edgewood Bulldogs

Eustace hasn't had much luck against Edgewood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Eustace is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Winona a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Madilyn Andrews was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Landrie Baker was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Bryleigh Powers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Eustace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Edgewood got the win against Winona on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-1. Considering the Bulldogs have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Edgewood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Eustace's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-8.

Eustace couldn't quite get it done against Edgewood in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can Eustace avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
