Basketball Recap: Jadyn Watts Key Part of a Team Effort in Gryphons Win

There's no place like home for Sickles, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They strolled past the Wharton Wildcats with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 57-39. The Gryphons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sickles to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jadyn Watts, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Watts has scored at least a third of Sickles' points. Another player making a difference was Sadie Jones, who posted 12 points along with eight blocks and six assists.

Sickles smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaytee Tyler, who earned 12 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Sydney Hurst was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Sickles pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Wharton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

Sickles has already played their next matchup, a 68-22 victory against Chamberlain on the 22nd. Wharton has also already played their next contest (against Riverview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
