Baseball Game Preview: West Deptford Eagles vs. Lenape Indians

The West Deptford Eagles will face off against the Lenape Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, West Deptford didn't have quite enough to beat Collingswood and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Zakk Carson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for West Deptford: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

Carson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jason Hartman, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Logan Dugan was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lenape didn't have quite enough to beat Rancocas Valley on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

West Deptford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Lenape, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

West Deptford came out on top in a nail-biter against Lenape in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
