Recap: Antelope Titans vs. Carmel Padres
The Antelope Titans pushed their score all the way to 73 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 90-73 to Carmel. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (69), Antelope still had to take the loss.
Antelope's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of SirMister Harriel, who scored 31 points, and Quentin Mitchell who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Those 31 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Aj Cook, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Antelope were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carmel only posted 26 assists.
Carmel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hudson Rutherford, who scored 29 points. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jackson Lloyd was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds.
Antelope's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-7. As for Carmel, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Antelope will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Woodcreek at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Woodcreek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Antelope likes a good challenge. Carmel and King's Academy will face off at 2:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully King's Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
