Football Game Preview: Buchholz Bobcats vs. Cardinal Newman Crusaders + Official Tickets

The Buchholz Bobcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Buchholz comes in on seven and Cardinal Newman on four.

Buchholz barely beat Bartram Trail the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats blew past the Bears 50-16 on Thursday. With the Bobcats ahead 30-3 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

A big part of Buchholz's win came down to the chemistry between Andrew Whittemore and his top target Justin Williams. Whittemore threw for 320 yards and three TDs while completing 76% of his passes while Williams gained 214 total yards and four touchdowns. Those three passing touchdowns gave Whittemore a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman got themselves on the board against Bishop Verot on Monday, but Bishop Verot never followed suit. They took their game with ease, bagging a 28-0 victory over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Cardinal Newman's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Buchholz, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Buchholz was able to grind out a solid win over Cardinal Newman when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 14-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
