Basketball Game Preview: Refugio Bobcats vs. Robstown Cottonpickers

The Refugio Bobcats will take on the Robstown Cottonpickers at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Refugio is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Santa Gertrudis Academy just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bobcats have suffered since January 31st.

Despite their loss, Refugio saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cedie Wills, who shot 55% from the field on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Wills is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played. Jazaelynne Lewis was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Robstown came up short against Rockport-Fulton on Monday and fell 47-38.

Refugio's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Robstown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Refugio couldn't quite get it done against Robstown when the teams last played back in December of 2024 as they fell 47-38. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
