Baseball Recap: Lyons Has No Trouble Against Proviso West

It was a proper cat-fight when Lyons challenged Proviso West on Thursday. The Lions put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-0 victory. The matchup marked the Lions' most dominant win of the season.

Dylan Justinich looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lou Ratcliffe and Blake Ragsdale did most of the damage at the plate: Ratcliffe went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Ragsdale went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Ratcliffe a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Georgelos, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Lyons hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Lyons' record now sits at 15-4. As for Proviso West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Lyons will venture away from home to face off against Lockport at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Proviso West, they will welcome Proviso East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
