Recap: Bruton Panthers vs. Grafton Clippers
The Bruton Panthers lost against the Grafton Clippers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Bruton was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Grafton. While losing is never fun, Bruton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Grafton is ranked ninth).
Despite the loss, Bruton still got an impressive performance from Brandon Freeman, who scored 17 points. The match was Freeman's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kareem Davis, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Bruton's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Grafton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bruton will take on New Kent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Kent is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Grafton, they will head out on the road to face off against Tabb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
