After losing to Spearville the last time they met, Hodgeman County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hodgeman County Longhorns snuck past the Spearville Lancers with a 49-45 victory on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Longhorns.
Hazen Rydquist was his usual excellent self, putting up 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Ian Reece, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.
Hodgeman County was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spearville only racked up eight assists.
Spearville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ian Melendez, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. The game was Melendez's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layson Wheaton, who had nine points and eight rebounds.
Hodgeman County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Spearville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
