Recap: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. North Central Panthers

The Floyd Central Highlanders pushed their score all the way to 70 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-70 to North Central. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (69), Floyd Central still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Floyd Central had strong showings from Nathan Rushing, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 2 assists, and Brock Conrad, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 42.9% of Floyd Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Landon Reed was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two blocks.

Nijah Jewell was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with five assists and three steals for North Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jewell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Papi Rivera, who scored 12 points along with six steals.

Floyd Central has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for North Central, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will take on Jennings County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Jennings County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests. As for North Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
