Preview: Bridgeport Bulldogs vs. Crofton Warriors
The Bridgeport Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Crofton Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bridgeport comes in on seven and Crofton on nine.
Bridgeport put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 70-20 victory over Alma at home.
It was another big night for Peyton Abbott, who rushed for 258 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. Abbott hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for seven straight games. Nikolas Weibert also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, Crofton can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They blew past Tri County Northeast 60-8 at home. Given Crofton's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Tri County Northeast is ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crofton can attribute much of their success to Will Steffen, who threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Robbie Fisher, who rushed for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
Bridgeport's victory was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Crofton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
