Softball Game Preview: Canyon Springs Pioneers vs. Cheyenne Desert Shields

After both having extra time off, the Canyon Springs Pioneers and the Cheyenne Desert Shields will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Canyon Springs comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Canyon Springs came up short against Virgin Valley last Wednesday, falling 16-1. That's two games in a row now that the Pioneers have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Cheyenne's offense. They lost 17-0 to Sports Leadership & Management last Wednesday. The Desert Shields have struggled against the Bulls recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Cheyenne now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Canyon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Canyon Springs beat Cheyenne 29-25 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canyon Springs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
