Volleyball Game Preview: Alton Redbirds vs. First Baptist Academy

The Alton Redbirds will head out to take on First Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Alton is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Collinsville just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to the Kahoks.

While Alton ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-17.

Meanwhile, First Baptist Academy also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Bunker Hill by a score of 2-0. First Baptist Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While First Baptist Academy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-21.

First Baptist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Alton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Alton beat First Baptist Academy 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Redbirds repeat their success, or do First Baptist Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
