St. Johns took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Williamston, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redwings had just enough and edged out the Hornets 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Redwings have posted against the Hornets since October 22, 2022.

St. Johns was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (108-100), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 14-25, 15-12.

Gracyn Woodbury paced St. Johns' offense, picking up 11 kills. Woodbury got some help from Lillie Alsup and her 25 assists. Alana Simpson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

St. Johns is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Williamston, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Johns will challenge Fowler on Saturday. As for Williamston, after both having extra time off, they and Mason will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
