Basketball Recap: Maplewood Comes Up Short

Maplewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The match between them and the Pymatuning Valley Lakers didn't end well, with the Maplewood Rockets falling 55-39. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-45 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Maplewood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ethan Nevinski went 6-for-13 en route to 17 points. Andrew Donaldson was another key player, putting up two points along with six rebounds, six steals, and five assists.

Maplewood's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Pymatuning Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Maplewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-38 loss against Grand Valley on the 7th. As for Pymatuning Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 65-60 defeat against Harding on the 7th.
