Football Game Preview: Muleshoe Mules vs. Littlefield Wildcats

The Muleshoe Mules will head out to take on the Littlefield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Muleshoe needed a bit of extra time to put away Roosevelt. They secured a 55-49 W over the Eagles. The Mules' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Josue Sigala, who rushed for 378 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 49 yards and one TD. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 11th straight game with at least 108 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Johnny Hernandez, who rushed for 74 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Muleshoe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 510 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Muleshoe didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ben Fleming and Brayton Butler.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Littlefield took on Slaton on Friday. The game between the Wildcats and the Tigers didn't end well, with the Wildcats falling 49-33. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.

Littlefield's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Muleshoe, they moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Muleshoe didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Littlefield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Chip Green, who rushed for 250 yards and six TDs while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 142 yards on 17 of 29 attempts.
