Football Game Preview: Fairfax Lions vs. Palisades Dolphins

Fairfax hasn't had much luck against Palisades recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Dolphins at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Fairfax turned things around against University on Friday. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Wildcats 21-20.

Meanwhile, Palisades strolled past Hamilton with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-30.

A big part of Palisades' victory came down to the chemistry between Jack Thomas and his top target Demare Dezeurn. Thomas threw for 369 yards and seven touchdowns while Dezeurn picked up 198 receiving yards and four TDs. With that strong performance, Thomas is now averaging an impressive 306.8 passing yards per game. Mattias Hernandez also helped with two scores in total.

Palisades didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of James Tisdale and Tavian Talbert. Talbert has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last four times he's played.

Fairfax's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Palisades, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Fairfax couldn't quite get it done against Palisades in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 22-14. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
