Basketball Recap: Mayfield Beats Schoharie for Their Second Straight Win

If Schoharie wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mayfield, they should've done a better job of containing Brianna Iannuzzi. The Panthers claimed a resounding 68-20 win over the Storm with plenty of help from Iannuzzi, who shot 6-for-11 from deep and dropped a double-double with 38 points and ten boards. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least 19 points.

Abigail Powers was another key player, putting up six points in addition to ten rebounds and six assists. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Mayfield has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 70.5 points this season. As for Schoharie, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayfield will square off against Johnstown at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Schoharie, they will face off against Cherry Valley-Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
