Preview: Providence Day Chargers vs. Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers

Providence Day is 8-2 against Charlotte Country Day School since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Providence Day Chargers will head out on the road to square off against the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. Hopefully Providence Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.

Providence Day's game was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 46-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy Early College. While losing is never fun, Providence Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 29th in North Carolina, while Legacy Early College is ranked third in South Carolina).

Providence Day's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaida Mcclure, who scored 16 points, and Ellie Fyans who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Mcclure has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, even though Charlotte Latin scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Charlotte Country Day School still came out on top. Charlotte Country Day School snuck past Charlotte Latin with a 60-55 victory.

Charlotte Country Day School found their leader in underclassman Sam Vanderhave, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Margaret Blythe was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.

Providence Day's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Providence Day have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Country Day School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Providence Day beat Charlotte Country Day School 59-47 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Day since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
