Basketball Recap: Azyria Garrison's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Berwick over Church Point

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Berwick can now relate to. They fell 38-29 to the Church Point Bears on Thursday.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Azyria Garrison, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Garrison has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Bosman, who posted eight points in addition to 15 rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Berwick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive matches.

Berwick has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-11 record this season. Church Point pushed their record up to 13-18 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Berwick does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Church Point, they will square off against Pine on Monday. One thing working in Pine's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
