Baseball Recap: Metro-East Lutheran Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Metro-East Lutheran, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Cahokia Comanches on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the match before.

Ben Schilbe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schilbe was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gage Trendley, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Barber, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Metro-East Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive games dating back to last season.
