The San Juan Broncos will face off against the Grand County Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Grand County will be up against a hot San Juan squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. San Juan's pitcher stepped up to hand Monticello a 10-0 shutout on Friday. San Juan's win was all the more impressive since the Buckaroo were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.
Corbin Middlton was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Brody Bilbao also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
San Juan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Grand County waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 17-4 victory. The Red Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jt Dowd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Dowd was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Romeo Williams looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Grand County got a massive performance out of Kalan Bowden, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Bowden a new career-high. Trace York was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs.
Grand County pushed their record up to 6-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for San Juan, their record is now 8-3.
San Juan took their win against Grand County in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 16-5. Does San Juan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grand County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
