Volleyball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Decorah-North Winneshiek Vikings. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 19, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Independence took Decorah-North Winneshiek into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-18, 22-25, 18-25, 15-10.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Decorah-North Winneshiek, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Independence nor Decorah-North Winneshiek have any future games scheduled.
