Basketball Recap: Paramus Spartans vs. Ramapo Raiders

The Paramus Spartans lost against the Ramapo Raiders last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Paramus was dealt a 66-33 defeat at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, Paramus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Raiders are ranked 17th).

Leading Ramapo to victory were Wyatt Eglinton manner and Chris Cervino. Eglinton manner scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while Cervino scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Cervino is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ricks, who scored nine points.

Paramus dropped their record down to 4-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Ramapo, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Paramus won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Indians on February 2nd. Weehawken knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge. As for Ramapo, they will face off against the Norsemen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as NV - Demarest comes in on three and the Raiders on four.
