Football Game Preview: Roosevelt Mustangs vs. Chaparral Pumas + Official Tickets

The Roosevelt Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Chaparral Pumas at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt has given up an average of 34.5 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Roosevelt's offense might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against Vista Murrieta on Friday. They were outmatched by the Broncos and fell 42-0. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Broncos are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Chaparral humbled Norco with a 56-28 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Pumas just coasted through the last quarter.

Roosevelt better keep an eye on Dane Weber. He was instrumental in Chaparral's win, throwing for 339 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 101 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries. Weber also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Pumas are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Trevor Schneider, who gained 137 total yards and three touchdowns.

Chaparral didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Camren Williams, Michael ( Kiko ) Farinas, and Tycen Johnson picked up one apiece.

The victory got Chaparral back to even at 4-4. As for Roosevelt, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Roosevelt took a serious blow against Chaparral in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 49-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
