Bonnabel takes loss despite strong efforts from Anaiah Perry and La?Nyah Laneair

Recap: Bonnabel Bruins vs. Riverdale Rebels

The Bonnabel Bruins suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Riverdale by a score of 38-35. While losing is never fun, Bonnabel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Riverdale is ranked 124th).

Bonnabel's loss came despite strong showings from La?Nyah Laneair and Anaiah Perry. Laneair scored 15 points along with two steals, while Perry scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 42.9% of Bonnabel's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Loriell Lewis, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.

Leading Riverdale to victory were Jenna Thibodeaux and Mazie Parmley. Thibodeaux scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Parmley scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks. Mikeya Allen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.

Bonnabel bumped their record down to 5-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.5 points per game. As for Riverdale, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.

Bonnabel won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against King Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. King Charter is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Riverdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Ehret at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
