Softball Recap: South Sevier Picks Up 20th Consecutive Win

South Sevier waltzed into their game on Saturday with 19 straight wins... but they left with 20. They came out on top against the American Fork Cavemen by a score of 5-1. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 10-6 victory the Cavemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2017.

Navey Lindsay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Caitlin Nielson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

South Sevier hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matchups.

South Sevier pushed their record up to 20-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for American Fork, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

South Sevier will face off against Duchesne at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for American Fork, they will square off against Lone Peak at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
