Basketball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison came up into this matchup off a tough 35-point defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Batesville Bulldogs by a score of 60-57 on Saturday. The Cubs have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Batesville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cade Kaiser, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Kaiser has become a key player for Batesville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was James Hughes, who went 6 for 9 en route to 17 points.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Batesville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Coming up, Madison will look to defend their home court on February 15th against Greensburg at 7:30 p.m. As for Batesville, they will head out on the road to square off against Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Batesville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
