Baseball Recap: Lone Oak Takes a Loss

After flying high against Commerce last Friday, Lone Oak came back down to earth. The Buffaloes lost 17-3 to the Edgewood Bulldogs on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buffaloes of the 11-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lone Oak saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cason McBride, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. McBride is becoming a predictor of the Buffaloes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

Lone Oak now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Edgewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lone Oak will head out to take on Frankston at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Edgewood, they will challenge Prairiland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
