Softball Recap: Taylor's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Taylor brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past the Grosse Ile Red Devils 13-3 on Saturday. The Griffins not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 19-1).

Joslyn MacKenzie ?25 made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. MacKenzie ?25 was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madelynn Waddell ?26, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailey Kanalos ?26, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Taylor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grosse Ile only managed five hits.

With the win, Taylor broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8. As for Grosse Ile, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Taylor will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Devils: the pair will be back at it again later today.
