Stratford waltzed into their match on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Cane Bay Cobras. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly two runs.

Jachin Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Jacob Deacon tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those hits were his first of the season.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JQ Crosby, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Stratford pushed their record up to 10-2-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cane Bay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Stratford will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cane Bay: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
