Softball Recap: Crestview Comes Up Short

Marion Local hit Crestview with a eight-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights lost 10-4 to the Flyers. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Flyers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Alli Thatcher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Crestview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaci Gregory, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Violet Dirr, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Crestview has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Marion Local, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Crestview will head out to face off against Lima Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Thunderbirds will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Marion Local, they are taking a road trip to take on Shawnee at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Flyers 2.4, the Indians 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
