Recap: Ridgecroft Rams vs. Surry County Cougars
The Ridgecroft Rams waltzed into their matchup Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They rang in the new year with a 59-46 victory over Surry County.
Ridgecroft's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Baylor Edwards led the charge by scoring 19 points. The contest was Edwards' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Antron Gray, who scored 13 points.
Ridgecroft pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Surry County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgecroft will face off against Pungo Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pungo Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Surry County, they will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Franklin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Surry County in Virginia (Franklin is ranked 97th, while Surry County is ranked 385th).
