MaxPreps Top 25 California high school football scores: No. 1 Mater Dei prevails against No. 2 St. John Bosco

The marquee matchup is a No. 1 vs. No. 2 national showdown.

In a showdown between the nation's top two teams, No. 1 Mater Dei impressed once again by beating No. 2 St. John Bosco 38-24.

Behind Alabama quarterback commitment Bryce Young, the Monarchs jumped to a 21-3 lead and maintained a comfortable lead for much of the contest.

Mater Dei improved to 9-0 while Bosco dropped to 8-1. Most expect a rematch in the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.



In other big games, No. 12 Sierra Canyon toppled previously unbeaten No. 7 Grace Brethren 13-7. Both teams cracked the top five in this MaxPreps small schools national rankings this week.

The Mission League produced a surprise as Serra (Gardena) knocked off No. 19 Alemany 32-25.

No. 8 Folsom beat Grant 62-17, giving the Bulldogs their 46th consecutive league win according to Joe Davidson of the Sacramento Bee.
