Softball Preview: Harding Academy Wildcats vs. Valley View Blazers
The Harding Academy Wildcats will head out to challenge the Valley View Blazers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Wildcats fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Des Arc on March 3rd, sneaking past 2-1.
Meanwhile, Valley View put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let West Memphis get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blazers, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
West Memphis' batters probably weren't too happy with Aubrey Burton, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up a single walk).
On the hitting side, Valley View got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Whitlock, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Whitlock a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Ellis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Valley View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Memphis only posted an OBP of .100.
