Basketball Recap: Walker Wildcats vs. Scotlandville Hornets
Walker had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-7 to make it four. They took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scotlandville Hornets. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.
As for Scotlandville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-5. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Jayden Simmons went supernova, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 30 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 30 points gave him a new career-high. Jakarin Whitfield was another key player, going 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.
Walker and Scotlandville will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Wildcats see the court they'll take on St. Paul's at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2026. As for Scotlandville, their break will end when they face Live Oak at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
